Telugu Poets Demand VV's Release - 10

Telugu Poets Demand VV's Release - 10

As the tenth installment in the series of Telugu poems against VV's incarceration and demanding his release, today I present a translation of 'This captivity is short-lived' by senior poet Ms Renuka Ayola.

This captivity is short-lived
Renuka Ayola

They cannot look straight into my dawn
Build walls to spread darkness
They have no brightness in their eyes
Depend on the path that slits throats
They carry the destiny of lies
Do not dare face my defiance

A light has to be lit
In these dark nights

It is not easy for them
To hack my courage
As they are in search of executioners
To behead liberty
With swords of betrayal

I persist in my country as an exile

This belligerence is a short-lived guest
Anonymous harassment and
Unknown paws cannot harm me

I continue to hear
Verses and voices of my poet friends
From the thick smog that covers
My freedom and beauty today

This incarceration lasts only a few days.
